Acadia Optronics LLC is addressing the problem of data management and storage with a scalable next-generation storage platform. This platform is based on a hybrid architecture which is similar to the Linux-based cluster model but with significant performance enhancements designed for scalability; namely, it combines high-performance PCI Express COTS storage and networking hardware with custom acceleration hardware and a revised networking/storage stack.
This approach bypasses typical software bottlenecks found in Linux-based storage clusters. It is scalable from a single 10 Terabyte array capable of serving data at 10 Gb/s to 1 Petabyte arrays with data rates approaching 1 Tb/s.

At present, Acadia is exploring the relationship between performance and storage choices and total cost of ownership in developing a high-performance storage solution. We are also testing COTS RAID and JBOD hardware to achieve an ideal performance/$ for next-generation Terascale computing efforts at the Department of Energy.
